Race car cake

This is a birthday cake for a 6 year-old's birthday. It is vanilla sponge cake, chocolate between the layers, orange and red swirled fondant covering. The race cars (there are 6 of them!) are fondant, as are the name and details. The flags are paper!

Magic Wizard cake

I got a request for a "wizard" or "magic" themed cake. The birthday girl is turning 7, and she enjoys the show "Wizards of Waverly Place" (which I have never heard of!) So, I drew the logo of the show on the cake board and made a magically-themed cake. The cake itself is purple and pink marbled white cake. Between the layers is chocolate buttercream. It is covered in marbled fondant, with fondant letters, stars and her name. The hat is fondant, the wand is a Spiderman 'candy-stick' that I carved a bit and the book is two cookies doctored up with icing. Not bad!

This is just a shot to show the details on the top of the cake; the wizard hat, wand and book of "Magic Spells".

This is the cake that I made for the Play School Christmas Party on Saturday. The cake is apple spice. The icing is just buttercream. The tree is an ice cream cone and the presents are little pieces of cake. Santa was made from gum paste! Cute, eh?!?

T Rex cake

Another last minute cake! This is for a boy's birthday party (the invitation is in the bottom corner) I had less than 24 hours notice, but he turned out pretty good! The cake is chocolate, filled with plain vanilla icing, covered with tinted vanilla icing. The teeth and inside of his mouth are fondant.

Items for sale

As I will not be putting a table in the December 5th craft fair at DJ, I thought I would just post some of the things that I have made. I have a few of each thing already made, or can make items to order. Feel free to contact me if you have questions about anything you see here.

Fleece Slippers for infants and toddlers

These double-layered fleece slippers are easy to put on and take off, super warm, and adorable! They can have the same pattern inside and out, or be a patterned outside with a plain inner to compliment.

Cute Craft or Baking Aprons

These vinyl aprons are great for that crafty kid you know. The arms and neckline are trimmed in colourful bias tape. There is a large pocket across the front. They are cute, and wipe off easily. Sleeveless, so you don't have to worry about sleeves dragging through paint or batter.

The back is split up the centre with a velcro closure.

Crayon, Marker or Pencil Crayon Rolls

Handy to pull out for any youngster on a car or plane trip. Travel VERY well. The crayons are easy to see and easy to replace, each in it's own little pocket. Keeps crayons and markers from becoming lost rolling around on the floor. They roll up and are secured closed with velcro or an elastic. Fun gift-especially if you include a colouring or activity book.

Fleece Dresses and Overalls

Super-soft, warm and cozy. Perfect for our cold winter days. A neat variety of fabrics.

Baby Shower

This is a baby shower cake. It was supposed to be single-layer, but looked so much better as a two layer with some trimming! The cake is pound cake with a sponge cake on top. The whole thing is covered in buttercream.

Peekaboo's 4th Birthday Cake

A "pinky-pink ballerina cake, that is rainbow" was the request this year! The round tier is a white cake with pink, purple, blue and orange swirls. There are sliced strawberries and buttercream between the layers, and it is covered with buttercream and MM fondant. The large rectangle is a pound cake with buttercream. The figure is made of gum paste, my first one. I learned A LOT making her, but Peekaboo loved her!

Louisianna anniversary cake

A request for a cake came in on Saturday...for Tuesday!!! AHHHH!! I said "yes"-crazy woman that I am!! It was for a 30th wedding anniversary.

The specifics; New Orleans swamp, married couple (in white marriage garb) on a raft, alligator chasing raft, slot machine with "30" on it somewhere....!

So, this is what I came up with. I, of course, had lots of other ideas after the fact...but, it was pretty cute!

Decorated Cake Fall Fair entry...

This was my entry for the Hay River Fall Fair. It was in the Decorated Cake category (so it is actually a piece of styrofoam! I could never get a cake that square!!)
It has some veggies, cupcakes, jars of jam, a sweater, pair of beaded slippers, flowers and some art work! It won 1st in it's category.

Fleece overalls

These little fleece overalls were a snap! They are super-cute and warm for our lovely winter months. I bought snaps for closing the legs, then decided to just sew them closed. I didn't want the gaps (not very warm on the legs!) and the straps are easy enough to lower for diaper changes.

Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake

This was the much anticipated Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. It was my first attempt at using MM fondant. The figure.....? So, I cheated! She loves having the little doll to play with!

Fabric play houses

I make these little fabric houses. They are great for traveling, are WASHABLE, lightweight and super fun! The blue one opens to provide a racetrack for matchbox cars, the pink one has a pocket for storage. They are the perfect size for those small Disney princesses that are currently on the market.

Reversible dress for my daughter

I bought my 3-year-old a reversible dress 'down south' in the spring, and she loved it. I looked at it and though "I could make this...."! So, here we are! It is reversible, with the orange fabric showing a bit at the hem when the dress is this way. When it is reversed, the orange is all you see. I won a first place ribbon at the Fall Fair with this! Yay me!Posted by Picasa
The 'sew' part of the title is to showcase some of my sewing projects. My Home Ec teacher would be so proud! I had her in tears 3 times in one class...I was not a stellar H.E. student!!
This is a Marker Roll. A great way to travel with writing implements for kids. Easy access, rolls up for transport. I also make them for crayons, or pencil crayons.Posted by Picasa
